HP 950 / 951 warning messages

If your HP 950 or 951 ink cartridges aren't recognized by your printer, it's possible that the printer is having problems reading the gold contact chip on the cartridge's end. When residue or finger print oil gets on this contact point, it might cause a printer fault. To fix this, gently wipe the contact point with a lint-free cloth or a Q-tip. After that, insert the cartridge into the printer, turn it off, disconnect it for 10-15 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on again. This will reset the printer and, more than likely, cause the cartridge to read correctly in the printer.
